In Iconic GIRLS on November 30, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Giuliana Rancic is an entertainment journalist, fashion and beauty expert and television personality with over 2 million followers on Twitter. She is the co-anchor of E! News alongside Ryan Seacrest and is the co-star of E!’s hugely popular Fashion Police team alongside Joan Rivers. She’s been on the red carpet for every mega-event in the entertainment industry (Oscars, Grammy Awards, Golden Globes) interviewing the stars and getting breaking Hollywood scoop as well as fashion tips, diet and fitness advice, travel tips and all things pop culture.
Giuliana recently launched FabFitFun, a daily newsletter focused on beauty, health and wellness that reaches tens of thousands of readers.
She is watched by millions each week on both E! and the Style Network on her hit reality show, Giuliana & Bill.
Giuliana is currently a weekly fashion contributor for OK! Magazine where she offers commentary on some of the best looks of the week. She is also on the board of directors for NIAF (National Italian American Foundation), as well as a member of AWRT (American Women in Radio and Television).
Her new book, I Do, Now What?, was recently released by Random House Publishing Group. Giuliana co-authored the book with her husband, Bill Rancic.

The show is also co-produced under You & I Productions, the production company she shares with her husband, Bill. She created and executive produced MTV’s Celebrity Rap Superstar in 2007. Her E! In 2006, she was joined by co-anchor Ryan Seacrest and currently E! News is the most popular entertainment news program among young adults.
In 2006, Giuliana released her highly praised debut book, Think Like A Guy: How to Get a Guy By Thinking Like One. She knows what it’s like “out there” and has done extensive fieldwork on what turns guys off and on. Giuliana also adapted the book to both film and television and has sold the book rights to Touchstone Television.
Giuliana Rancic is a force both on-camera and off but her remarkable success didn’t come easily. She is a true result of “The American Dream” and an inspiration to people, both young and old. Giuliana was born in Naples, Italy, in an impoverished neighborhood, and moved to the United States when she was a little girl. Her love affair with television journalism began before she could even speak English – her parents couldn’t afford a tutor, so she learned the language by watching TV. After high school, Giuliana attended the University of Maryland, where she received a B.A. in Journalism. She earned her Master’s degree in Journalism from the American University in D.C. While in attendance, Giuliana worked for a capital hill news bureau covering a number of stories related to the Pentagon, Supreme Court, White House and State Department.
Some of Giuliana’s charity work includes Operation Smile, Dress For Success, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago and the Children’s Miracle Networks.
Giuliana splits her time between Los Angeles and Chicago. She resides in both cities with her husband, entrepreneur and talk show host, Bill Rancic.
On October 17, 2011 during an interview on The Today Show, Giuliana announced that she had been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, for which she would be treated with a lumpectomy, followed by radiation. Giuliana had stated that she and husband Bill would have to wait to have a child until her breast cancer was taken care of. Giuliana had breast cancer surgery in mid-October 2011 and returned to work at E! News about a week later.

Lady Gaga Paying Big Bucks To Dad, Playing Santa In New York City

In Entertainment and Celebrity, News on November 30, 2011 at 2:00 pm
Lady Gaga gives 50 percent of her earnings to her dad
Lady Gaga’s father, Joe Germanotta, has one generous little elf on his hands: His pop diva daughter reportedly pays out half of her income to him.
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, is said to pay Joe 50% of her earnings via their two companies, Team Love Child and Mermaid Music. She even purchased a New York City restaurant for her patriarch, according to the New York Post.
“There’s really no justifiable sense to doing a 50/50 deal with anyone in your career, other than someone you’re partners in a band with,” one entertainment lawyer told the Post regarding the atypical arrangement.
If Gaga chooses to keep all her cash in the family, that’s her prerogative. She gives plenty to others through her creativity, including her latest endeavor: a stylish holiday workshop at Barneys New York.
The “Bad Romance” singer will take over the entire men’s department for Gaga’s Workshop, a holiday-themed pop-up shop that opens last Monday night just before midnight and remains open until Jan. 2. Barney’s will donate 25% of all sales from the shop to her Born This Way Foundation.

Do You Have a Phobia of Lash Curlers?

In Beauty and Hair on November 30, 2011 at 1:00 pm
Get Past Your Lash-Curler Phobia

So what if it looks more like a medieval torture device than the ultimate eye-enhancing tool? If you want flirty, fluttery lashes (and who doesn’t?), you’ll have to make fast friends with your eyelash curler. But don’t worry—it’s not nearly as intimidating as it seems. San Francisco-based makeup artist Emily Kate Warren tells us how to master this must-have in minutes.
Get squeaky clean. Always start with freshly-washed lashes. Using a curler after applying mascara makes it easier to break or tear off lashes.
Don’t be shy. Clamp the curler close to the base of your lashes. Load your lashes, squeeze for a few seconds, and gently open.
Stare at yourself. Maintain eye contact with yourself in the mirror, so you’re not blindly squeezing. If you close your eye, you may find that you pull your own lashes out.
Protect your eyelid. Lift your brows slightly when clamping to make sure no excess eyelid skin finds its way into the curler.
Try before you buy. Experiment with different shapes of curlers before buying one. Some have a flatter shape, while others are more curved and round. The right fit for you depends on your eye shape.
Never heat up your lash curler. It heats up superfast, making it too easy to scald your fragile skin and lashes. Ouch!

DIY: Boho Chic Floral Braided Headband

In Fashion and Style on November 30, 2011 at 12:00 pm
Here is an awesome diy project from A Beautiful Mess using floral tights thats restyled into a boho chic headband. This would be a great project if you have a few pairs of tights that have gotten runs in them but you don’t want to just throw them out. Here’s what they did:

1. Cut the legs and feet off of the tights.
2. Cut the legs into thin ribbons (as thick or thin as you prefer).
3. Tie three strands into a knot on one end.
4. Braid the strands until the braided band is long enough to fit comfortable around your head.
5. Tie the ends together.
6. Trim any excess pieces.

Now you are ready to wear your new headband! You can wear it high up on the top or your head, or lower down on your crown. What’s great about using tights for the base of this headband is that the material has built-in stretch, so it can stay on your head without slipping off. Enjoy!

10 Things Guys Should Do On A First Date

In Living on November 29, 2011 at 6:00 pm
Ah, first dates. So nerve-wracking. If only you knew exactly what was going to happen, then you could plan out everything in advance. But first dates are kind of like playing the lottery. You gotta be in it to win it, but sometimes you end up empty-handed. If you’re a woman, you know these sort of situations don’t always go so smoothly. If you’re a guy, here are 10 tips that can make the first date easier on all of us.

Take Charge. We do not want to decide where to go. We will never tell you this, but it is true. Ask us what kind of place and/or food we like; then, pick a place like that. Do not leave it up to us to choose. You are the man. Act like one.
Smile. When we arrive, smile. Maybe you are a tough guy. Maybe you are nervous. Maybe you are paralyzed. Either way, smile. Women are strange, exotic, intuitive creatures, and we respond well to positive reinforcement. Do not glower.
Mind Your Body Language. If your legs are crossed and your hand is over your mouth, we will unconsciously think you are hiding something. If you are sprawled out all over with your legs spread wide and your hands behind your head, we will think you are a slob or generally loose. Sit up straight, lean in closer, and keep your hands where we can see them.
Ask Questions. This seems obvious, but it’s surprising how many men don’t do this. You know what women like? Attention. Also, kittens, flowers, and cupcakes. Nothing else. If you seem curious about the woman sitting across from you, she will like it. For sure.
Listen. You can’t just ask a bunch of questions, and then not listen to the answers. They call this a “date,” but, really, for women, it’s more like a “test.” If you emailed or talked on the phone beforehand, remember what the hell she told you about herself. If you forget, we will feel angry and want to leave. Then you will be sorry.
Use Flattery, Appropriately. If at some point during our meeting, you tell us we are “beautiful,” “attractive,” or “pretty,” we will like you better than if you didn’t. It’s. Just. That. Simple.
Act Right, Boy. We really do not care if you are secretly neurotic, deeply insecure, or mildly nuts. We are interested in how you portray yourself. Act confident, interested, engaged, self-assured, ambitious, and happy. We like that. Thanks.
No Pawing Allowed. If you’re going to score with us at some point, we will let you know. Trust. Occasional physical contact is OK — a hand to the small of the back, a touch of the thigh, a brief holding of the arm while making a point. Do not grab anywhere in the red light zones. If we want your hands there, we will put them there.
Pay. Feminism, shmeminism. Take care of the bill without comment. That is what we want. Wave off any offer to go dutch. We lied. We don’t want to pay half.
Say Goodnight. Don’t meander off into the night. Do something. What that is is up to you: a handshake, a hug, a kiss. Do it right? You might get a second date.

Florence + The Machine Covers Drake & Rihanna’s “Take Care” (Video)

Florence Machine Take Care

“I’ve always wanted to do something with Drake,” Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine told the BBC Radio 1 audience. “We’ve always tried to, but we keep both being really busy and nothing’s happened. We’ve always been in different places and the time that we did end up in the studio together we ended up getting quite drunk together and there wasn’t a song that came out of it.” To make up for those drunken nights, Florence covered Drake’s Rihanna-assisted title track from his new album Take Care. Watch below as Florence sings the trippy song, backed by the Machine.
Did Florence & The Machine do the song justice???
